Project Summary

*

APEC and other international organizations recognize the growing importance of the creative economy for trade and growth, yet women entrepreneurs face significant barriers in this sector. UNCTAD research (2025) consistently shows that women contribute substantially less to export value-added than men, hindered by digital divides – limited connectivity, skills gaps, and unequal technology access.

This project will empower women-led creative MSMEs by raising awareness of available export support measures and facilitating their integration into international value chains through digital solutions. A targeted online-seminar will build skills in e-commerce, digital marketing, and AI/design tools and provide knowledge on export-assistance programs. Participants will engage in peer-learning exchanges to share best practices and build networks across economies. These activities align with APEC’s 2026 priorities of Openness, Innovation and Cooperation, promoting connectivity, SME development and inclusion, while unlocking creative economy’s potential through women’s leadership in digital trade.
