This knowledge-sharing initiative will host a dedicated session during APEC TEL73, bringing together representatives from APEC economies, regulators and other stakeholders for a seminar Building Safer Online Spaces. The workshop will explore policy and practical approaches to enhance safety and user wellbeing on online platforms, including advocacy and awareness; stakeholder engagement; policy, advocacy and implementation approaches; and safeguards to support innovation while addressing online harms. The project will strengthen regional cooperation by enabling regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders to exchange implementation experiences. Interested member economies will be invited to contribute voluntary case studies and practical insights drawn from their respective domestic contexts, helping to ground the discussion in real-world experience and support knowledge-sharing across APEC.

A Project Summary Report will consolidate key insights, peer feedback and good practices, including comparative observations across economy case studies. The report will support continued regional dialogue on platform policy approaches and regulatory interfaces, complementing APEC work on digital transformation, online safety and responsible, transparent platform practices.
