In response to APEC economies’ shared commitment to deepening innovation collaboration and promoting economic prosperity, China proposes to establish the “APEC Voluntary Contribution Platform for Best Practices in Open Innovation Ecosystems”. This initiative aims to empower the Asia-Pacific region in building an open innovation ecosystem, making collaborative progress through voluntary, mutually agreed terms with adequate protections for intellectual property. This will create a “digital bridge” that channels regional innovation into new driving forces of economic growth. As a digital platform, it will aggregate high-quality resources such as policies, regulations and success cases from various economies in the field of building open innovation ecosystems. Additionally, economies can voluntarily upload and access these materials. Meanwhile, a thematic workshop and a forum will be held in both online and offline formats, together with focused policy dialogues to facilitate in-depth exchanges on common challenges in building an innovation ecosystem.
