The global economy has undergone a fundamental transformation driven by the rapid advancement of digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). As AI increasingly powers innovation and economic development, its progress remains intrinsically linked to the robustness and innovative capacity of the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. The ICT sector relies on highly interconnected and complex ecosystems for sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution of technology products and services among economies. This interdependence underscores the strategic need to strengthen ICT ecosystems supporting AI technologies to advance the digital economy. Global ICT supply chains are experiencing rising uncertainty, driven not only by rapid technological competition but also divergent regulatory frameworks across the APEC region and beyond. Thus, enhancing public-private partnerships has become essential to better navigate supply chains challenges and seize emerging opportunities. The Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) will serve as a platform for industry representatives, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss best practices and experience sharing that facilitate ICT trade and enhance adaptability and innovation of ICT supply chains. Cross-fora collaboration and closer engagement between APEC and ABAC are also central to this PPD to support capacity-building initiatives and foster a more enabling environment for ICT trade.
