Marine debris and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing pose critical threats to food security, sustainable economic growth, and ocean productivity across the Asia-Pacific region. Despite enhanced monitoring capabilities, APEC economies face persistent gaps in addressing these interconnected challenges. This half-day workshop will convene ocean technology innovators with APEC economies on the margins of the OFWG meeting during SOM3 in Dalian, China in August 2026. Through expert presentations and facilitated discussions, participants will explore practical, innovative technology solutions for ocean challenges. This workshop will inform future events for APEC capacity-building focusing on technology and innovation, including a proposed workshop planned for 2027 in Viet Nam.
