This project aims to convene the APEC Smart Mobility Forum to promote dialogue, cooperation, and knowledge exchange among APEC member economies, building on the Smart Mobility Recommendations endorsed by the APEC TPTWG.

By leveraging digital technologies, autonomous vehicles, and resilient transportation systems, smart mobility seeks to enhance urban transport efficiency and improve overall safety.

This project will focus on key challenges in advancing smart mobility, including policy development, infrastructure investment, and safe and secure adoption of technology. The project will also consider a “secure by design” approach to ensure that security aspects are addressed from the early stages of smart mobility development. It will deliver a comprehensive framework with actionable policy recommendations and strategic insights to guide future implementation.

The forum will focus on sharing policy experiences, fostering collaboration, and advancing practical discussions on future-ready transport and smart mobility cooperation.

This initiative will also address regulatory barriers, technological gaps, and investment strategies necessary for scaling smart mobility. In alignment with the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040 and its emphasis on growth, the project will explore how smart mobility can strengthen economic resilience by improving connectivity, and creating new economic opportunities in the technology and transportation sectors. By engaging government officials, technology providers, and urban planners, the project will lay the groundwork for safe, secure, and innovative mobility solutions that benefit the entire region.
