This project will identify priority application areas for quantum technologies and assess corresponding standardisation needs to identify where international standards can support the development, deployment, and scalability of quantum technologies across the APEC region.
Quantum technologies offer significant opportunities for industry, research, and government. However, the successful scaling of commercial applications depends on robust standards that ensure interoperability, safety, performance, and trust. To address this, the project will establish a clear picture of the current standards landscape across a range of real-world use cases, identifying emerging gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for international standards development.
Building upon the findings in the Final Report and Roadmap delivered under the Strengthening Collaboration on Standardisation for Quantum Technologies project, this project will identify key application areas and use cases for standardisation of quantum technologies through engagement with national standards bodies, industry, academia, and policymakers. The project will continue the success of the earlier project to strengthen regional collaboration and accelerate the responsible development and uptake of quantum technologies within APEC economies.
