International standards adoptions as domestic standards can be slow and resource-intensive, limiting the ability of regulators, standards bodies, and industry to respond quickly to emerging technologies and market needs.
Building on global momentum for reform, this project will help economies share practical, proven approaches that streamline the adoption of international standards while safeguarding process integrity and output quality.
This project will identify and share best practices for streamlined processes for adopting international standards, such as bulk, concurrent and mirror adoptions and build capacity among regulators, standards bodies, and policy makers. Beneficiaries include SCSC members, standards bodies, regulators and quality infrastructure agencies and ultimately the businesses and communities that rely on timely, trusted standards.
A workshop will be held in the margins of SOM3 in 2026 to showcase current methods and innovations in streamlining international standards adoption. A final report will summarise key insights and propose areas for future SCSC collaboration.
