In the face of increasing natural hazardous events, especially in the disaster-prone APEC region, enhancing investment environment to promote quality investments in disaster-resilient infrastructure is increasingly critical to maintain/strengthen economic connectivity in the region. Such activities are critical to investment-attracting public/private entities and investors in terms of mitigation of business disruption and enhancement of supply chain connectivity, as well as reduction of human/economic losses. With increased disaster risks, investment-attracting bodies could even be left liable for the failure to provide disaster-resilient environment. In this regard, Pre-Disaster DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction)-Adaptation solutions will enhance the resiliency and stability against disastrous events and thus contribute to further improving investment attractiveness in the region.
This project will reveal good practices of Pre-Disaster DRR-Adaptation solutions to increase the awareness of the necessity of promoting investments in disaster-resilient infrastructure by analyzing successful cases and financing models. The project will provide case-studies and an analysis that charts the technology landscape, examines demand drivers, and assesses institutional readiness and capacity gaps for technology adoption, culminating in strategic insights, as well as recommendations for improving the investment environment to attract private capital for disaster-resilient infrastructure.
