Obesity is accelerating across the APEC region, threatening public health and economic productivity. This project will elevate obesity prevention and control as a policy priority in the region through the development of an APEC Strategy to Combat the Rising Obesity Burden and a policy dialogue to launch the strategy at the margins of the SOM3 HWG meetings in August 2026. The project will seek to increase knowledge sharing among APEC economies on best practices for obesity prevention, management, and care. Member economies will have an opportunity to share evidence and recommend actions for the strategy during virtual consultations. The strategy will be shared with the HWG and relevant organizations following its launch.
