With the rapid growth of international food trade, ensuring the authenticity and preventing the adulteration of food and botanical/animal ingredients have become increasingly important.
To strengthen the analytical capability and align with international developments, this project proposes to hold the “APEC Conference on Practical Approaches to Detecting Adulterants and Prohibited Substances in Foods” in October 2026 in Taipei, Chinese Taipei.
Experts from government agencies, academia, and industry across APEC economies will be invited to exchange knowledge and discuss emerging analytical technologies, detection of illegal additives, identification of illicit pharmaceutical adulterants, and authentication of foods of animal and plant origin.
Through technical exchange and case sharing, the project aims to enhance analytical capabilities and support effective food safety enforcement, while fostering sustained cooperation and information sharing among APEC member economies.
