Corruption erodes public trust, stifles trade and investment, and impedes economic prosperity. China and Hong Kong, China propose to jointly host a workshop in Hong Kong in the middle of this year to address the critical issue of how integrity boost public trust and economic prosperity from the lenses of both public and private sectors. This workshop will provide an opportunity for APEC member economies to share experience and present evidence linking high integrity standards in the public sector and among private sector entities to tangible economic outcomes; and also facilitate dialogues among policymakers, business leaders, academia and practitioners from anti-corruption agencies and related international organisations to promote a culture that champions integrity in the public sector and among private sector entities. Based on the discussions at the workshop, a document related to the topic will be prepared by the host for the consideration of APEC members.
