Project Summary
Counterfeit medical devices pose significant risks to patient safety and undermine legitimate commerce. Strengthening IP enforcement in the medical device sector is essential to advancing innovation and competitiveness, disrupting illicit trade and protecting public health. This project will develop effective enforcement practice guides to curb the cross-border flow of counterfeit medical devices, thereby protecting both domestic and global markets for APEC innovators and industry. Via the IPEG, the project will strengthen IP rights in the Asia-Pacific region via a survey and analytical study and follow-on roundtable on the threat of counterfeit medical device trades in APEC economies and corresponding enforcement mechanisms
