Population aging has become a defining demographic trend in the APEC region. When intertwined with global environmental transition goals, it presents distinct challenges while also creating transformative opportunities. Older adults are particularly vulnerable to climate-related health risks, such as the exacerbation of chronic diseases due to extreme weather and impaired immune function resulting from environmental pollution, posing serious threats to their well-being. This underscores the urgency of integrating environmental considerations into healthy aging strategies. To address these interconnected challenges, this project proposes that the APEC Health Science Academy (HeSAy), in collaboration with Sun Yat-sen University, co-host the APEC Population Aging and Environmental Health Policy Dialogue as a side event of APEC SOM1 on February 2, 2026, at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
