Digital literacy is increasingly recognized as a foundational requirement necessary for participation in work, learning, and everyday life. However, definitions and applications of digital literacy vary significantly across different sectors.
There is an opportunity understand digital literacy from an APEC lens supporting knowledge sharing, exchange of best practice and consistent language deployed across our region to support digital uplift and acquisition of this foundational skill so fundamental to an increasingly digital world.
Australia proposes to host a workshop in Singapore on how economies understand digital literacy in their contexts and work towards identifying commonalities to support a consistent definition. The workshop will then explore those frameworks and complementary policy/program measures to understand how economies are increasing digital literacy in their contexts. This workshop would be underpinned by a pre workshop survey designed to start conversations and inform workshop design.
A report of workshop findings will be developed providing economies in our region with a resource to develop a regionally consistent approach to a global challenge.
