Accelerating environmental pressures – including sea-level rise, warming seas, ocean acidification, and increasingly frequent extreme weather – pose unprecedented risks to marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of coastal communities. To respond collectively, APEC economies agreed at the 5th APEC Ocean-Related Ministerial Meeting (AOMM5, 2025, Busan, Korea) to develop an APEC Ocean Resilience Enhancement Roadmap (2026–2030). This project will convene the 1st APEC Ocean Resilience Conference in Korea in November 2025, gathering approximately 50 participants from government, academia, and industry. The conference will feature policy dialogues and technical sessions designed to facilitate exchanges of views, gather inputs, and shared views among APEC economies to shape the draft Ocean Resilience Enhancement Roadmap. Key outputs will include an initial draft Ocean Resilience Enhancement Roadmap and a conference report.
