This project aims to raise awareness of gender-based violence and discrimination in the workplace especially gender-based violence facilitated by technologies and its impacts on women’s economic participation among APEC economies. The project will also consider the role and responsibilities of workplaces in relation to the safety of their staff, including online and when using digital technologies, and support for women to implement respective safeguards, such as digital literacy and online safety training, access to support services and guidance to use built-in safety features for digital platforms. This is in line with APEC members economies responsibility under La Serena Roadmap Key Action Area to encourage initiatives and strategies to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and discrimination in the workplace and
[1] to support women’s education, training and skills development and access in a changing world of work .
[2] The project will involve hosting a roundtable workshop with APEC economy representatives, to raise awareness of online safety issues and potential solutions in this regard. It will also provide a toolkit of practical resources that participating economies can offer to institutions and businesses (including SMEs) to support women’s online safety in the workplace.
