Project Summary

*

As part of the APEC CPLG Plenary Meeting on 2 March 2024, Canada will hold a policy dialogue entitled “Exploring the Link between Competition and Gender.” The 90-minute policy dialogue will explore the intersection between competition and gender. This is in response to a trend where competition agencies are asked to examine whether competition policy should play a role in promoting broader policy objectives and reducing inequalities in society. The policy dialogue provides information on how competition agencies could contribute to both efficiency and women’s economic inclusion, in support of APEC priorities. The panel includes four panelists and one moderator from Canada, Mexico, and The Philippines, as well as one OECD expert.

The objective of the project is to create a post-event Summary Report  (“Report”) for publication on the APEC website. This report will serve as a reference for economies to enhance the effectiveness and impact of their competition authorities, fostering more competitive, resilient, and inclusive economies.
