Cloud computing is set to become not only an integral component of the global workforce but the means by which companies and governments deliver services to customers and citizens. It is expected that the use of cloud computing systems will continue to grow throughout the APEC region, contributing to both economic and jobs growth. This project will seek to build awareness and knowledge for APEC member economies on the benefits of cloud computing for both businesses and government, taking into consideration the economic, security, environmental, and human capital needs to leverage cloud technologies in support of their digital transformation goals. Through a series of workshops and research activities, the project aims to better prepare and strengthen member economies’ awareness, understanding, and adaptation to cloud computing technologies and develop recommendations and best practices economies can use to create the foundations for their own cloud adoption and cloud policies. Workshops may focus on topics that include: adoption and integration of cloud technologies, human capital skills, approaches to data classification, considerations for security and privacy, economic and environmental considerations, and recommendations and best practices for cloud computing. The program aligns with the TEL Strategic Action Plan, as well as the APEC Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap through support and capacity building in technologies related to, and supportive of ICTs.
