As part of the APEC CPLG Plenary Meeting on 9 August, 2025, Canada held a policy dialogue called “Driving Growth and Innovation through Competition Cooperation.” Following an uptick in competition cooperation activities in the APEC region, this 120-minute policy dialogue highlighted recent approaches authorities are using to review mergers, combat anti-competitive practices, promote deterrence, and advocate for competition. The dialogue covered some of the latest impactful initiatives in the region. It went beyond “the what” and explore “the how”, providing a reflection on how cooperation can be most effective, discussing challenges, learnings, and best practices.
The objective of the project is to create a post-event Summary Report for publication on the APEC website. This report will serve as a reference for economies to enhance cooperation in competition cases.
